Harpeth Hall Patton Visual Arts

At the north end of the Harpeth Hall Upper School in Nashville, Tennessee, is the Patton Visual Arts Center. The art facility, completed in March 2003, serves as a new centralized building for Harpeth Hall’s outstanding visual arts program.

Project Details

  • Space designed to include:
    • Three large art studios
    • Photography studio, lab, and darkroom
    • Graphic design and video editing spaces
    • Media art and art history classrooms
    • 125-seat lecture hall for larger classes and gatherings
  • Careful attention was given to the quality of natural and artificial light in planning and design, particularly in studios spaces 
  • Integration of latest technology to support the school’s laptop program
  • Circulation spaces outfitted with special wall panels and lighting to serve as gallery spaces for the students’ work
